Education Opportunities

The American Needlepoint Guild, Inc. provides many exciting educational opportunities for its members.

ANG Workshop by Mail offers you the opportunity to stitch a seminar-level piece in the comfort of your own home.

Another educational program is the ANG CyberWorkshop – online classes where you can stitch an exciting piece with the guidance of experienced teachers.

To fulfill the purpose of ANG, Educational Services continues to research possibilities for national projects to create significant forms of needlepoint in places of worship, public buildings, and historical landmarks of the United States. ANG has endeavored to leave a legacy for future generations by completely funding twelve such national projects.

ANG's educational program makes available slide programs of previous seminar exhibits, hands-on stitching projects, and videos. The objective is to provide expanded opportunities for learning. All slide programs and videos are available for loan to all members and chapters.

The majority of our programs are Correspondence Courses. Thirty two courses are currently available, including classes on a variety of techniques, classes for beginners, classes on color and design, classes for youth, notebook classes and project classes. Correspondence Courses feature one to three lessons exchanged by mail between student and teacher, along with a final critique by the teacher of the finished project. They are designed to be worked by students working on their own, but can also be worked by groups, which can be, but are not restricted to, chapters.

Any questions about the above ANG Education programs, or requests for printed Education Directories (available to members only), should be directed to ANG's Director for Educational Services.

ANG also offers a Master Teacher Program for those interested in becoming instructors in the art of needlepoint, a Judging Certification Program for those who wish to become accredited judges of needlework, a Master Needle Artist Program for those who wish to further their creative development, and a Needlearts Appraisal Program for those who wish to become professional appraisers.

The Endowment Fund was created in 1987 to support the educational programs of the American Needlepoint Guild. Donations to this fund can be made at any time by members and friends in any amount. These tax deductible contributions may be designated as memorials, to honor someone, or as an expression of support for the Guild and the many educational programs provided to members. Any questions about the Master Teacher, Judging Certification, Master Needle Artist and the Needlework Appraisal Certification programs should be directed to ANG's Vice President for Education.
