Did you ever wonder how the designers ‘do it’? Participants in this two day class will create a unique design of their own with assistance from the instructor.
We will start with a framework template, and the students will build upon that template by choosing stitches provided with the course, or created by the student, that fit into the template . Stitches that will be taught are variations of Jessica, Rhodes, Crescents and Sprat’s Heads. When complete, the student will have designed 4 to 6 unique diamonds that can be assembled into a traditional two dimensional design, a cube for a frame weight or as ornaments.
Next the student will select threads to stitch with from a selection of Gloriana 12 strand silk, Rainbow Gallery Petite Silk Lame’ Braid, Sparkle! Braid, and Elegance. Adequate threads will be provided to stitch the resulting design with any combination of the above mentioned threads. There will be two colorway options to choose from.  Option one is based on a French Blue canvas with threads of brown, pink, peach and green.  Option two is built on a Santa Fe Sage green canvas with threads of green, gold, and burgundy.
The finished work can be embellished with 4mm crystals. Finishing instructions for the cube frame weight are provided with the course materials and a demo of finishing the cube will be given.
You kit will include a 14” x 14” canvas of your choice, the threads named above, stitching and beading needles.  Your instruction booklets will have everything you need to design, stitch and assemble your cube or diamond.
In addition to their basic sewing kit, students are to bring: 14” x 14” stretcher bars and tacks or staples to attach the canvas, a glue stick, and a pack of 8 colored pencils.
