Everyone loves an Iris. We will use the Iris as the basis for our canvas piece.

The Intermediate stitcher will use 17 canvas stitches and 4 values of your flower color to shade the flower and 8 values of green for the stem and leaves. We will learn two ways of shading. We will combine values to make 4 values into 7.

The Iris is finished by outlining each area to make each petal stand out from the others. The piece is worked as a picture on 18 count white mono canvas 12” x 14” with the design 8 ½” x 10”.

The next phase will be to master shading using the canvas stitches and blending with the use of your threads. The piece is worked all in floss so that you can change the color of your Iris if you wish.

A larger photo of the project can be seen at this link Shaded Iris .
