Quest XXVII

The Quest Challenge celebrates its 27^th year by offering an opportunity for all needle artists to create and exhibit an original or adapted piece of needlepoint at the ANG Seminar Exhibit 2021. All members of ANG are encouraged to accept the challenge and participate in Quest XXVII by demonstrating their creative abilities based on the 2021 theme: The Animal Kingdom.   

Yes, this is your chance to celebrate an animal that has touched your life and given you happiness.  Stitch your favorite furry friend or commemorate one you loved.   Any animal works for Kingdom, domestic pets, wild animals, reptiles, fish, insects and birds.

Did you ever go on an African Safari, or to a Zoo and be charmed by the majestic cats or playful monkeys, maybe it was a rhinoceros, or giraffe that caught your imagination? Do you like reptiles, such as snakes, with their beautiful skin, or gorgeous tree frogs in many colors, or alligators which watch you skeptically from afar, hopefully. Perhaps you love tropical fish?  Perhaps your vacation snorkeling allowed you to see them swimming with you? Insects are just amazing and come in many colors, shapes and forms.  Nature is a great teacher of color theory, and design.  Can you imagine a box of goldwork beetles?  And what about a lovely dragonfly? Birds are wonderful subjects for your consideration.  Vicky Sawyer’s bedecked birds have been wildly successful in the needlework industry. How would you dress your bird?

Let your imagination lead you into a new project to submit to the 2021 exhibit in the Original or Adaptation categories.  Be sure to write a short artist statement about your entry, to tell us about what inspired your creation. You can use a photograph of your pet to create your original design, be sure to include that in your artist statement.
